What to Expect in Portugal

Credit cards are accepted at most places, but I do recommend bringing some cash. ATMs are available.

Weather: Summer is the best weather. September weather is still nice but it tends to rain buckets off and on some days.

Lisbon

Lisbon is the capital and the largest city in Portugal. It's famous for its cobblestone streets and pastel de nata.

Porto

Porto is about a three hour train ride north of Lisbon and lies along the Duoro River. It is the second largest city in Portugal. Porto is know for the Duoro Valley, which is the only place in the world to produce Port wine.

Algarve is the southernmost region of Portugal. It is home to many of Portugal's most beautiful beaches. Popular destinations here are Faro, Lagos and Albufeira.
