When in Portugal you must try the famous Pastel de Nata. The best of the best is Manteigaria. If you’re like me and follow a gluten free diet, check out Zarzuela, a gluten free cafe with gluten free pastel de nata. It's definitely not the same, but I was grateful for the authentic experience!

We stopped at The Food For Real Alcantara for breakfast one morning, as they have lots of gluten free options. The owner of the cafe was so welcoming and actually gave us the recommendation for Manteigaria. The food was wonderful and the service was amazing.

One of my favorite meals was at Loja, a quaint little Italian restaurant. The atmosphere was romantic and the service was great. The food was even better. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

If you have Netflix, you've probably seen the show Somebody Feed Phil. One of the episodes was filmed in Portugal so we decided to visit some of his recommendations, including Ponto Final. Reservations are recommended, so we tried to book one about 3 weeks in advance and even then, they were already booked. They quickly got back to us and let us know we could sit and have a drink while we waited for a table. We went on a Saturday night and there was a huge line when we got there. We soon found out that this was the line to put our name in for a table. Once you do this, you can head inside to the bar and get a drink or bottle of wine to share. We waited about an hour and a half for our table. I did hear an employee say that since the restaurant has appeared on Somebody Feed Phil, it has become a very busy place to go. The food was delicious but not the best we had. I highly recommend going at lunch when it is a bit quieter or making sure you get a reservation so you don't have to wait. The atmosphere is quite beautiful but I think it's a bit overrated.

Our last night in Lisbon we wanted one last meal of traditional Portuguese food. We stumbled upon O Maravilhas and boy we sure are glad we did. The restaurant was full of locals and did not feel touristy at all. Our waitress was extremely nice and very helpful in translating the menu for us. Bread, cheese and olives are brought to your table upon arrival. I highly recommend the codfish!
